What services are available at the Family Center?
Founded in 1994, The Morgan County Family Center’s (MCFC) primary focus was connecting families to community resources. The Center’s mission is Connecting Morgan County families with support and tools needed for successful living. We provide thorough and updated information about available community resources; Our trained staff members advocate for families in need of direct services and walk with them as they develop a foundation for success; We offer health advocacy for those in need of medical stability, a safe stable home, or a nutritious meal plan; We build individual and community capacity through parent education and leadership programs; We wrap services around families, through a comprehensive case management service delivery model, no matter what they look like, so that parents and children have the opportunity to thrive.
At MCFC, we believe in the power of effective parenting. Our dedicated parent educators work closely with families to enhance parenting skills and build stronger, more supportive relationships between parents and children. From prenatal care to the years before kindergarten, we understand the unique challenges families face, including school readiness, developmental milestones, behavioral concerns, and life transitions. Our PAT team provides personalized guidance, strategies, and resources designed to help families thrive and navigate these early years with confidence. We meet with families to determine their needs and goals through our family development process also known as case management. We refer families to appropriate community resources and support including accessible health care services, mental health and substance use prevention and treatment. We provide concrete support including emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities and food.
The Housing Resource Center (HRC) helps individuals and families find homes or apartments that meet their needs and budget by guiding them through the application process and assisting with understanding rental agreements. We are committed to educating renters about their rights and responsibilities, providing skills to maintain rental properties, and promoting effective communication with landlords, including managing issues such as repairs. For those facing homelessness, HRC offers rental assistance and emergency support to help move toward stable housing. Additionally, we assist individuals at risk of eviction by providing financial help for overdue rent, mediating between tenants and landlords, and connecting renters to resources intended for preventing homelessness. We also offer housing resources to individuals and families looking to purchase a home.
MCFC is supported by a combination of approximately 30 different funding sources including government grants from the local, state and federal levels. Local, state, and private foundations, corporations, civic groups, and individuals.
